Gregorius Chapel Netherland

Gregorius Chapel

Project/Location: Gregorius Chapel, Utrecht/Netherlands
Interior designer: Zecc Architecten
Collection: Axor Starck X
Photos: Cornbread Works

When a chapel is converted into a residential accomodation usually little remains of the original atmosphere. However, the architect bureau Zecc managed to integrate both the old church elements of the Gregorius Chapel in the Dutch city of Utrecht, and a minimalistic interieur.

The chapel, built in 1922, was previously part of a cloister complex in the old city district of Utrecht. The architects' ambition was to retain the spacious feeling of the chapel as far as possible. The old lead windows were left in their original state, as was the masonry with angels, and even the organ.

To obtain a contrast to the white of the church, the interior designers kept the bedroom and bathroom in dark tones. They also chose the designer collection Axor Starck X, with its sculptural and yet uncompromising straightforward lines, as it matches the setting perfectly.

Emirates Palace UAE used HANSGROHE

Emirates Palace

Project/Location: Emirates Palace, Abu Dhabi/United Arab Emirates
Architect: Wimberly Allison Tong and Goo (WATG)
Interior designer: P49 Designs
Owner: Kempinski Hotel and Resorts
Completion: 2005
Collection: Axor Terrano

The Emirates Palace, which is managed by the Kempinski Group is one of the largest luxury hotels in the world. 302 rooms and 92 suites are part of the 5 star complex, as is the Palace Conference Centre, equipped with the latest technology, a ballroom for 2400 guests, and 40 conference rooms including a media and business centre. Landscaped gardens covering 85 hectares, a specially created private beach and a yacht harbour complete the luxurious surroundings.

Traditional Arab elements can be found in the architecture of the building: a large dome, 42 meters in diameter, spans the lobby, with a further 114 domes spread over the entire building. For the interior too, the planners focused on Arab splendour using gold leaf gilding and marble. The oriental, rounded style is matched perfectly by the bathroom fittings of the Axor Terrano collection.

In Son Font on the island of Mallorca, the Tomschy family refurbished a nearly completely decayed finca into a luxurious dream house. The blue illuminated pool in the grounds of the seven hectare large property is a definite highlight, as is the exclusive light concept in the interior of the house.

Preferring a generous bathroom, the owners joined two rooms together. Elegant Mares stone from the local quarry is used here and in the guest bathroom. The owners selected bathroom fittings from the Axor Citterio collection to go with the puristic-traditional mixed interior and the no-frills tiles. Refreshment is promised by the Hansgrohe Raindance Air overhead and hand showers.

The new luxury hotel enjoys an ideal location, directly next to the sea and in the historic centre of the Baltic spa resort Binz, one of the most well known holiday destinations on Rügen. The island is not only famous for its unique chalk cliffs and the unspoilt environment, but especially for its 19th century architecture in the fin-de-siècle style. Small wooden villas with verandas, bay windows, ornaments and turrets are typical features of the island’s towns. And the Strandpromenade on the seafront in Binz is no different. All the greater therefore is the contrast provided by the modern lifestyle hotel “CERÊS am Meer”. The clear and superlative design combined with the supreme comfort lends the hotel a stylish character and create a place of contemplation.

Hilton Hotel UK used HansGrohe

Hilton Hotel

Project/Location: Hilton Hotel, Manchester/UK
Interior designer: Jestico + Whiles
Collection: Axor Starck

Beetham Tower in Manchester, which was completed in 2006, is one of the tallest buildings in England at 169 meters high. From the 23rd floor the building juts out four meters from the floor below with a cantilever giving the glass-clad building its distinguishing characteristic. Up until now the high-rise houses the Hilton Manchester Hotel. The upper floors house apartments.

Supported by the interior designers Jestico + Whiles from London, the hotel chain gave their 284 rooms and suites a modern image which is characterised by its rectilinearity and modest demureness. Precious dark timbers, soft light sources glowing behind glass and marble set the tone in the bathrooms of the hotel as well. No wonder the designers chose fittings from the Axor Starck Collection. The star designer Philippe Starck’s unique way of commanding the poetry of reduction and focusing on what is essential fits perfectly with the concept of modesty and discrete luxury.

Hansgrohe Raindance AIR

From an architectural point of view the “ELSE- Club” is from the outside in stark contrast with its environment. It appears as if a plinth was “pushed” under the high rise. A porch with a silver sheet metal panel which protrudes a long way over the façade, touching the ground on two sides, gives a futuristic appearance, setting itself apart from the rather modestly designed façades of the building. The eastern and western sides are generously glazed so that the surrounding park-like landscape can also be experienced form the inside.

From a central entrance area on the first floor, individual areas such as a swimming pool, sauna, fitness area and a restaurant are available. The flowing transition from one individual area to another gives a feeling of generosity, while the closed off rest and intimate areas provide a feeling of comfort.

The “ELSE-Club” is a place of wellbeing, an island of calm and relaxation. In all of this the guest is in close contact with the element of water. This is also reflected in the choice of fittings and showers. The architect Ulrich Tillmanns comments: “We decided on the Axor Starck collection because its minimal elegant design, the ease of use and the high standard of quality down to the last detail fit perfectly into our design concept. Due to the uncompromising minimalist design, the user can concentrate entirely on the essential: the contact with water.”

The Kise Bettei Hotel on the island of Okinawa offers traditional hospitality in its 97 rooms. On seven floors the architects recreated the nostalgic atmosphere of a long-gone era. The Kise Bettei reflects the tradition of Okinawa in an atmosphere of prosperity and diplomacy.

The hotel rooms overlook the harbour of Nago, one of the most beautiful views of Okinawa, and the spaciously designed spa overlooking the natural and untamed forest of Yambaru, is an invitation to complete relaxation.

Relaxation and a feeling of wellbeing are also emphasised in the hotel's bathrooms. The charm of discrete luxury is complemented by the designer collection Axor Citterio, Axor Uno², Axor Terrano and Axor Starck X as part of the bathroom design.

The luxury yacht builder Sunseeker, based in Poole in the South of England, sets new standards for motor yachts with its trideck motor yachts. Three decks in the yacht, plus an additional skydeck on the roof, are as exceptional as the individually designed interior. Customers make their own choice which solution suits them best: maximum performance, maximum economy or a compromise between speed and steadiness.

Tailormade solutions for customers are a good reason why no Sunseeker yacht is ever the same as another. The comprehensive Hansgrohe portfolio underlines this claim to individual design. Sophisticated technology and highest quality were the deciding criteria in favour of Axor Critterio.

The architects Roger Stirk Harbour & Partners broke new ground in the design of Terminal 5 at London's Heathrow Airport, as part of modernising the world's most frequented airport. The design of the new terminal is geared completely to reducing travel times. For the 35 million passengers which pass through Terminal 5, the time between check-in to departure gate is reduced to an average of ten minutes.

Terminal 5 was erected on an area equivalent to the size of London's Hyde Park. 50 football pitches, ten per floor, fit into the main building alone.

The luxurious bathrooms in the terminal are furnished with Axor Massaud, Pharo Lift 2 shower panels and Hansgrohe Metris S fittings.
